As a young girl, Thanksgiving was a time to get together with extended family that I had not seen since the year prior. With my mom being much younger than her siblings, I was the youngest in the large group as my cousins were ten plus years older than me. Because of that, I was usually doted on and was asked a series of questions about what I had done over the past year. I soaked in the attention and always put thought into what I was going to say days before. The younger kids, including myself, my sisters, and some of my cousins would also perform a talent show for everyone from singing to dancing to speech reciting, typically a performance that we had learned from school or an extra curricular activity. It was truly a full day of visiting, cooking, eating, resting, and loads of picture taking from very early in the morning to late into the evening. And with all of those pictures being taken, I always wanted to look my best. I remember picking out what I was going to wear with my mom in advance.
To this day, I still think of Thanksgiving as more than just a meal, it is a time for digging deeper into getting to know those we love and to show appreciation towards them. It is a time for me to still wear something thoughtful. I always look for something that represents who I am that year as well as being cozy and comfortable. Today I am showing you an outfit that is Thanksgiving ready, full of style and ease all from Avenue.
