The Best Thrift Stores in Orange County, California for Womens Clothing

After thrift shopping in Orange County, California for many years, I have found several hot spots that I have been able to find some of my most favorite items that I love to wear.  Each store seems to have a special and unique flavor carrying a wide range of brands, styles, and pricing.  While this list of thrift stores in partial to my tastes, I hope this can be of use to those of you who live in the area, or happen to travel through.  In this list I am going to share what it is I like about each store and if they seem to carry certain types of items regularly and/or specials and sales.  As I have mentioned many times before, thrifting is fickle.  Just because these are what I consider the best in the area, I still have been to them and have walked out empty handed.  Shopping frequently and being dedicated on what you are looking for is key to building a thrifted wardrobe that is personalized to you.

Goodwill of Orange County

The Goodwill of Orange County runs on a color tag system that marks items by the date that it comes into the store.  Once an item is in the store for four weeks, it goes on sale.  Every Friday, the specified color tag goes on 50% off.  All like items are priced the same and are not priced individually by brand or style.  The stores are organized by like items and then by the color of the clothing, which means you have to look at everything to find your size.

Goodwill (Center West)
Address: 6741 Westminster Boulevard, Westminster, CA 92683

This is one of Orange County’s newer and larger locations.  It is typically pretty clean and has a large selection to choose from.  This has been my favorite place to find jeans and dresses since there is so many to look through.

Goodwill (Westminster)
Address: 5948 Westminster Blvd., Westminster, CA 92683

This is an older location that has been remodeled.  Although this is a small store, I have found most of my great Anthropologie and Free People finds.  From what I am told, this location receives many donations from the Seal Beach area that are high quality and I have found this to be true by shopping there.

Goodwill (Marina Village)
Address: 5880 Edinger Ave, Huntington Beach, CA 92649

This newer location is medium sized and is my #1 in this list.  It is super clean and rotates inventory pretty frequently.  I love the tops and shoes selection the best at this location.

Working Wardrobes Resale Shops

The Working Wardrobes Resale Shops price everything individually.  They have a different type of sale everyday, but are closed on Sundays.  Their sales have included 99 cent days off certain colored tags, $3.00 days, and 50% off days.  They also have a punch card where you get a punch for every time you spend $20.  After you fill up the card, you get $20 off your next purchase.  They also have “red tag” items that include designer pieces that do not go on sale, even during promotions.  Another perk they have is when you can make a certain dollar amount donation to their charity and you become a preferred customer.  The day you become preferred, you receive 50% off your entire purchase, including red dot items at all locations for that entire day.  From that day moving forward, you will receive 25% off regular priced items for life.

Huntington Beach
6945 Warner Avenue , Huntington Beach, CA 92647

This location is small, but turns over inventory quickly.  I have found this location is great for tops and accessories.

Costa Mesa
803 19th Street, Costa Mesa, CA 92627

This location is larger than Huntington Beach and carries a lot of great designer pieces as well as a wide selection of plus size items.

Garden Grove
12761 Harbor Blvd. #I-2, Garden Grove, CA 92840

This is the largest Working Wardrobes Resale shop and is a great place to find dresses and sweaters.

Deja New

Deja New

This little shop has some fantastic pieces including womens designer and career clothing, as well as a great selection of shoes.  They have deeply discounted sales weekly.  Hours are limited being open only Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

  1. I love thrifting. Until recently we had a store called Savers here in Toledo, Ohio. It was my go to place for finding great items for the blog at reasonable prices and they would have sales on certain days like Memorial Day and Labor Day. Unfortunately, just before Thanksgiving they closed both of their Toledo stores, with no explanation to anyone, including the employees. I was really bummed. We have a couple of other thrift stores, including Goodwill. I just need to get out there and check them out. Nice hearing from you. Have a great weekend. – Amy
