Welcome to my first installment of “Anatomy of an Outfit” here on Designing From My Closet. This blog has not been updated as much as I would have liked over this past year and I would like that to change. Overthinking and over planning has led me to take too long on blog posts when I really need to simplify. I really enjoy writing and showing imagery of outfits, so I have come up with a few ideas on how to get my point across without spending 8+ hours on one post. The first is doing these “Anatomy of an Outfit” posts where I show one outfit step by step on how I put it together. I hope that you enjoy them and get some useful information and inspiration from them!
OLIVE AND CORAL WITH JEANS
STEP 1: The base of today’s outfit is a printed coral tank wrap top and straight leg jeans. I plan on layering over this tank and I find sleeveless items allow me to put jackets and cardigans over them without any sleeve bunching and keeps me from getting too hot.
STEP 2: Add an olive colored bomber jacket with a ruffle detail. I treat olive green as a neutral in my wardrobe, so I pretty much will wear it with any color. I also love that the jacket has a little something special with the ruffle.
STEP 3: Peep toe booties in a neutral cream. I love how these boots are so close in color to my skin tone which keeps my leg line looking seamless. The small 1 1/2″ heel provides just enough height, but is comfortable enough for all day wear.
STEP 4: Push up the sleeves to 3/4 length. Just this little touch adds a lot to this outfit and I enjoy showing this little bit of skin.
STEP 5: A necklace that fills the open area of the jacket gives just enough visual interest and draws the eye up to the face.
STEP 6: My everyday bag has been my dark brown slouchy bag and I think it looks great with this combination.
And here is my complete outfit for the day!
