Whenever I purchase an article of clothing, I try to imagine how many ways I can wear it with items already existing in my closet. My ideal is to be able to style a piece at least three different ways. When I got the black & white striped tulip skirt from the Victoria Beckham collection at Target, I knew the neutral colors would pair with the many colorful tops I have and that the shape would be fun enough for me to want to wear it again and again. Today I have styled this skirt four different ways to show how I am wearing it.
Outfit 1: With a Floral Top & Denim Jacket
As I have mentioned before, stripes and florals are one of the easiest ways to mix prints and this is a great example. The top even contains black and white along with other colors.
Outfit 2: With a Ruffled Chambray Tank
This ruffled chambray tank top dresses down this skirt and adds even more of a playful vibe. A colorful tasseled clutch brings in a pop of color.
Outfit 3: With a Chambray Button Down Shirt & Wide Belt
Although this is pretty simple, the shape of the skirt takes center stage. I also love the mix of black with brown accessories. It seems to add just enough of a juxtaposition for my liking.
Outfit 4: With a Striped Knit Top
Another great way to mix prints is to take the same print and duplicate it, but in a different scale. I also love that the stripes are going opposite directions.
