As a modest dresser, I have always enjoyed being able to take the latest trends and have them work for me in a unique way. One of the biggest lessons I try to share with my clients is that clothing items are not stand alone pieces, it is how you style and wear them that make them truly an outfit. Several women can wear the exact same piece and make it look uniquely theirs depending on what they pair it with.
Cropped tops have been one of those trends that as a modest dresser, I have been curious about, but not delved head first into. I fell in love with a cropped sweater while thrifting and could not pass it up. This Urban Outfitters piece had so much personality that I was bound and determined to find a way to make it work for me.
Although I know it is not a new thing to do, I took my layering skills and adapted them to create this look perfect for shopping for clients. The long flowy cream blouse cascades out beyond the shorter sweater providing coverage and interest. I took the long sleeves of the blouse and pulled them a little over my hands for a dramatic effect while placing a large flower bracelet on my left wrist over top the cuff.
Metallic pointy toe tassel flats and a red cross body bag finish off this easy, yet chic casual look. I love how the outfit is all neutrals and the handbag adds just a touch of color.
