A Little Bit Vintage, A Little Bit Modern: Who What Wear Floral Midi Skirt

A Little Bit Vintage, A Little Bit Modern: Who What Wear Floral Midi Skirt | Designing From My Closet

When it comes to designing my own home, I typically would describe my style as Modern Vintage.  Putting outfits together in that same vein is certainly not out of my realm and it is where I am showing my true personality.  Today I am showing an outfit with a little bit of a vintage feel mixed with modern touches that is a great work day look.

A straight pencil skirt has always been an essential for work wear.  That does not mean that it has to be boring by an means.  This midi length skirt from the Who What Wear collection at Target has a gorgeous oversized floral print in a unique colorway.  The dark chocolate brown background makes the teal blue blooms pop so beautifully.  This silhouette reminds me of the forties fashions, which is my vintage part, and the print, although vintage inspired, is still very modern in its color and scale.

For my top I went with a faux leather front shirt from Anthropologie.  It has an orange tone to it, which looks so good with the blue in the skirt.  Hey, I am doing another complimentary color scheme here!  This modern tee gives a great edge to the more feminine bottom.

A pair of modern style pointy toe Mary Jane’s that I thrifted last year look so good with this style of skirt.  It is the perfect combination of demure and sexy.  And the chunky, not so high heel gives me a little height without being uncomfortable.  Another thrifted find I just recently got is this rust colored gauzy scarf.  Paired with a sleek gold tone necklace, it reinforces that modern vintage vibe.

My snake print clutch that I got many moons ago at JCPenney still stands the test of time and looks fantastic with this outfit.  I love how it mixes with the feminine floral too.
