I have expressed many times about how I enjoy using the color wheel as a tool to put together outfits. In fact, I wrote a Dressing from the Color Wheel post quite a while ago. One color scheme I pull from it that I turn to many, many times is the complimentary color scheme. Two colors opposite each other on the color wheel are classic combinations that will never go out of style. Red and green is probably my most used from this scheme and today I am putting a casual day look using it.
What I especially love about using this color wheel technique is that you can play around with shades and tones of each color to come up with a truly unique look.
For me it all started with these olive green utility jeggings that I have featured several times already on the blog. I cuffed them so I could show off my fun fringed booties. Style tip: allow a sliver of skin show between your hemline and the top of your bootie for a great finished look.
For my red color, I selected a burgundy peasant blouse that has a small leaf print all over. My trusty denim jacket gives a great fall feel while a colorful tassel necklace gives even more autumnal hues.
Although this hat has absolutely nothing to do with my color scheme I am highlighting, it provides a great way to give me some sun coverage as well as adding some boho chic vibes.
