I am all about having both stand out, bold statement pieces as well as great versatile items that can mix and match with a lot of other garments in my closet. Very rarely to these remixable pieces are considered “basic” in my eyes because I still like to have some sort of detail that makes them special. Take these Ava & Viv Utility Jeggings that I picked up a while ago at Target for example. Today I am showing you four looks utilizing these great pants from casual to dressy-casual along with telling you what makes them so unique.
First off, I want to cover the details. These olive or army green pants have certain things that drew me in with their style. The mottled finish keeps them from being extremely solid, but not overly busy. They have a heavy, canvas type fabric that prevent too much showing even though they are a tight fitting jegging. Finishing details such as the stitch work around the upper pocket and below the knee are lovely. And the cargo pockets on both thighs have a great zipper, but they do not protrude too far from the body. For my own personal preference, I sized up one size in these for fit. You will also see in the pictures that they are a tad long on me, which is typical since I am short, so I cuffed them.
WEEKEND CASUAL IN STRIPES, DENIM, & SNEAKERS
A simple black and white stripe top topped off with a medium wash denim jacket is great for running weekend errands. White sneakers add a fun twist as well as the vintage plaid scarf that I tied in a bow around my neck.
OUT TO DINNER CASUAL IN LACE, SUEDE, & LOAFERS
Comfortable, yet a little chic in a violet lace swing tank and faux suede jacket that can be worn or just tossed over the shoulders like a cape. This look is all about texture and even more is added through a fringe necklace, statement fabric clutch, and pierced faux leather loafers.
WORK DAY CASUAL DRESSY IN SHIBORI & BOOTIES
A long cardigan gets cinched in with a wide belt here for a more dressed up look. Low heeled booties add to the sophistication yet still provide comfort.
CLIENT MEETING DRESSY CASUAL IN FLORAL, CHAMBRAY, & PUMPS
A mix of prints is at play here with the floral tie blouse, leopard belt, and zebra clutch. A very on trend chambray bomber jacket keeps things a little casual while still looking put together. Snake print pumps finish off this client meeting worthy look.
