Outfit Formula: Stylish Casual for Early Fall

Outfit Formula: Stylish Casual for Early Fall | Designing From My Closet

Today is the first of a blog series I have been wanting to start for a while now.  My Outfit Formula series will include a certain general occasion.  This time I am creating a stylish casual look appropriate for early fall when it is still warm, but also has cool times of the day, especially in the mornings and evenings.  Perfect to pop on for weekends when it is a laid back day, but want a step up in the chic department, the stylish casual outfit formula can translate into any personal style choice you may like.

DARK WASH SKINNY JEAN + WHITE TANK + LAYER + LACE UP SHOES + ACCESSORIES

1. Dark Wash Skinny Jean

The dark wash skinny jean provides a great base for the stylish casual look.  Choose one that goes to the ankle to show off your shoes.  For this look, I chose a pair that has a uniform wash that is clean and simple.

2. White Tank

A simple white tank in any shape or silhouette that you prefer is easy and simple to pop on over jeans.  It gives a great base for the layer that is coming next.  I chose a loose fitting tank that I tied into a knot to give a nice draping effect.

3. Layer

Choose a light layer that shows off your personal style.  This can be anything like a jacket, cardigan, kimono, cape, or poncho in any color or print.  I chose a teal peacock print kimono that I thrifted a while back.

4. Lace Up Shoes

Although my heart says it is time for boots, the weather simply is not cool enough, and I believe lace up shoes are the perfect alternative.  This can be anything like these gladiator sandals I am wearing, shoeties, or lace up booties, with or without a heel.  They give nice coverage of the foot for the effect of a boot, but still provides the coolness for your feet during warm days.

5. Accessories

Necklaces, scarves, bracelets, and handbags put finishing touches on a stylish casual outfit like this.  Compliment your layer with these selections.  I chose to wear my horn link necklace and fringe handbag.

I look forward to continuing the Outfit Formula series here on Designing From My Closet periodically.  If you have an occasion you would like for me to feature for the series, let me know in the form below.

  1. I follow this formula of dressing for work. If it gets warm I can take off the layer. When it is a bit cooler I will add a quilted vest over the layers, extra warmth but easy to remove. When I am picking out clothes I choose a layer first since the other pieces are simple. Quick and easy way to get dressed in the morning when I am usually rushed.
