It has been both strange and exciting entering my forties. I feel like I am finally coming into my own as a woman and am also figuring out what a woman in her forties dresses like. Today I am proud to say I am the guest of The Fab 40s blogger group that posts themed outfit blog articles every month. This month happens to carry the topic of hats! I was thrilled when I heard this as I love the drama of a hat.
Abiding to certain rules of dressing for a specific age has not been on my radar, it had been more of an internal search for how I want to look. I also find that just as I grow and change as a person, my tastes and personal style evolve right along with it.
Although it is officially fall now, it is still quite warm here in Southern California. With that in mind, I went with a look that is still autumnal yet light. This cream floppy hat has been featured a few times last season here on the blog and I was excited to bust it back out.
For my outfit, I stayed cool in a short sleeve olive green tee that has a low back. I gathered my hair into a low, side swept pony tail to compliment both the hat and show off the back detail of the shirt. White denim is still going strong as it will continue to do so through even the winter months. A caged sandal gives the illusion of a bootie with all the cooling qualities needed for a hot day.
For accessories, I reached for my horn ladder necklace that adds a great natural element to this fall-esque look. And I am rediscovering this printed hobo bag that I got in my early thirties. I have not used it in years and even had it for sale in my Poshmark closet for a while, so I finally decided to pull the listing and use it again. The green and red compliment each other so well. I also love the relaxed boho vibe it provides to coincide with the feeling of the floppy hat.

Ann of Kremb De La Kremb went with a turban that inspires me so much. I love how the drama of the hat has such a contrast from the ultra casual shorts and sneakers.
Jennie of A Pocketful of Polka Dots sports a newsboy hat for a fun look paired with a striped skirt. So cute!
Mary of Curlybyrdie Chirps is giving ultimate sleek bohemian vibes in her body con dress, crochet vest, and wide brim hat.
Sam of Fake Fabulous creates a great eclectic look in this floral pencil skirt and dark fedora.
Sheela of Sheela Writes brings on the funkiness in a netted red hat, layers of black, and embellished umbrella. IN LOVE!
Veronica of Cid Style File is styling in this flowing maxi dress that happens to be my favorite olive green color of the season along with a cute cowboy style hat.
