This past spring, Lane Bryant came out with several pieces that I fell in love with. One being the Lena Pant in a green and black pattern that I got and featured in My Fashion Journey post and the other being the Cascade Striped Maxi Dress that I passed on because I just was not able to purchase it at the time. Being that it was beyond gorgeous, I was not surprised that it sold out quickly.
For some reason, whenever I have funds to buy something new, I can’t find anything, but then when I am low in my budget, I find all kinds of things. Am I the only one that happens to? Anyhow, fast forward several months later, the maxi dress I had fallen in love with online was for sale second hand on Poshmark. Well, I ended up getting it and I wore it on a recent vacation I took to the desert. This long striped nautical inspired beauty reminds me of resort living. And although I am back home, I am taking that resort feeling with me. In other words, I am resorting at home!
The caftan shape of the dress makes me feel like a goddess. A cascade of sheer fabric flows down the center seam which adds even more movement. I have seen several ladies through social media wear this particular dress with a belt as well and as much I love belting, I enjoyed wearing this as a free flowing piece. The carefree drama it provides takes me to another place, even though I am doing my everyday routine.
For accessories, I played up both the glam silhouette and the relaxed nautical print and colors with my Avenue hammered gold cuff, my shell clutch that was a gift from my hubby, and my Charming Charlie coral stone slab necklace that picks up the tones in the dress.
While on vacation, I wore this dress with a simple wood bead necklace and flat sandals and it was perfect for strolling around in the heat. For todays more dressed up version, I finished it off with some heeled sandals. Worn casually or dressed up, this maxi has been a great addition to my summer wardrobe. This has been one of the first summers I have really been happy with what I have been wearing. Dressing for summer can be challenging because of the heat, and boy has it been hot and humid!
Although fall is creeping up on us and fall fashions are showing up in stores and online, I still have several more summer outfits to show you. I am also working on a special post inspired by a reader who inquired about what to do when you are sick and tired of the summer clothes you already have, but do not want to spend any money. Well, to me that is the perfect recipe for a great style tip post where I will be taking summer outfits (from this year and last year) that I have blogged about before, shopping my own closet, and remixing them into another look. I hope to have it up within the next week and a half.
