There are certain occasions that call for a beautiful dress. From attending a wedding to going out to dinner, I love to feel pretty as well as comfortable. When I get ready to look for such a garment, I look for specific characteristics that will help guarantee I will have a fabulous time at whatever event I am going to. Today I am going to share with you those points and why the Snake Aztec Wrap Dress at Avenue fulfilled all these needs as well as why I chose the accessories I did.
I was on the hunt for a multi purpose dress that I could wear to church as well as take on an upcoming vacation for going to dinner so the key elements I searched for was modesty without being too covered, stretch fabric for comfort, easy to pack without getting wrinkled, something that could go from daytime to nighttime, and fit my personal style with print and color.
When I saw the Snake Aztec Wrap Dress on the Avenue website, I was intrigued. The blue and white mixed print dress with a surplice top and handkerchief hem appealed to my style senses while the fabric fit my need for comfort and travel flexibility being a polyester/spandex blend. I also selected a pair of low wedge sandals and a bib necklace to complete the look.
The fit of this dress was spot on. I am wearing a 14/16. The short cap sleeve is perfect for day and evening as well as being a little more on the modest side. Since the fabric is a little silky, I found that I am going to either wear a cami or pin the wrap portion closed because it tended to slip open when I moved around. This is pretty typical for any wrap and surplice style tops on me. It is so wrinkle proof that I know this will do great after being packed in a bag for vacation too.
Since I wanted a day to night look, my shoes needed to be practical, yet somewhat dressy. The Island Wedge Sandal fit the bill perfectly for me. These are a totally different look for me, so I feel like I am stepping out of my comfort zone a bit with them. The champagne color is something that can translate as dressy and the sandal style is a little more casual, so the mix is nice. My other shoes I have gotten from Avenue have been slightly large on me due to the wide width, so this time, I decided to try a half size smaller than my usual size. I am so glad I did because these fit great! The low wedge gives some height while providing ease and comfort for walking.
Wrap style dresses are very suited for nipping you in at the waist and this one is no exception. I love how it flows away from the body from the smallest part of my waist. And the snake print in an unexpected blue and white paired with a tribal watercolor border on both the neckline and hemline is stunning. Since this was a snake print dress, I thought I would take it a step further and wear it with my snake print clutch.
Unique jewelry is always something I have an eye out for and Avenue has been coming out with some real beauties lately. I love natural and natural looking mediums so when the Neutral Crescent Bib Necklace came out, I really wanted to add it to my collection. It has a mother of pearl crescent shape (I am not sure, but it is probably faux) with marble looking stones in white and black set within it. The hammered gold settings are beautiful too.
I especially wanted to pair this necklace with this dress because it fit the open neckline. It also has stand alone appeal without competing with the pattern and color of the dress. I have noticed that natural (or faux natural) jewelry is something that can be worn with almost anything.
