There once was a girl who loved all things poofy and sweet. She adored looking like a princess all while taking on obstacle courses and jungle gyms. Then she grew up and still loved her cupcake skirts along side having a casual and active lifestyle. She also liked feeling sophisticated and quirky all at the same time. So she mixed her pink tulle skirt with all different sorts of tops to come up with a unique style as special as her personality.
This was another tulle story brought to you by Janeane of Designing From My Closet.
I have shown my pink tulle skirt in several posts before as well as pulling an entire lookbook together with it. And today I have yet another outfit with it as I have mentioned before that I do not plan on letting it sit in my closet waiting for special occasions. With the help of an Anthropologie top and necklace I got on Poshmark and a JCPenney jacket from their Boutique Plus line, I am putting a little artistic, part safari, part Parisian flair to this outfit.
A black and white stripe top with a criss cross detail sets the tone for this look. It gives a small touch of Parisian style with the billowing skirt. I love how by pulling the body skimming top down it gives a dropped waist effect and allows the tulle to poof out right at the hip giving the effect of a fit and flare dress. The overlapping lines of fabric give a corset feeling as well.
An olive jacket has been one of my closet staples for years and I find that it goes with practically anything. This one is super lightweight and breathable which makes it perfect for summer and early months of fall. It has a slight hi low hemline that billows out swing style in the back. The large safari style pockets on the front give a fun international vibe to the already Parisian style in place.
When I saw this colored raffia tassel necklace, it had my name written all over it. I really had never seen anything like it. The off beat color combination of baby blue, light pink, rust, maroon, and golden yellow appealed to every part of my senses. Layering it over the striped top gives even more dimension and texture to this already lively look.
So this girl all grown up still gets to frolic around in a fluffy skirt and still look like an adult. Do you incorporate details from your childhood into your wardrobe? It is amazing how inspired you can get from looking back to those carefree days prior to paying bills and responsibilities. I love this part of my girlhood personality and I am so happy I get to show it off now.
