Silhouette to Watch: The Soft Peplum

One on trend silhouette that I have been really enjoying has been the soft peplum.  I am not sure if this is the exact term for this, and it may be my own made up word for it, but it describes perfectly what it is: a peplum top that is loose around the bust and waist.  Last month I picked up this plaid top in soft pastels of lavender, blush, and peach and is the feature of today’s post.

What I truly enjoy about this loose cut is the casual nature it brings to a look as well as not sticking to your torso during the hot summer months.  This one has spaghetti straps so I will be wearing it with a jacket or cardigan until it gets too hot and I will wear a strapless bra.  Either way, I love it.

I first wore it with white denim pants and a faded denim jacket.  Later on in the week, I then wore this plaid top with denim capris and an olive green lightweight jacket.

I love the way this jacket has a lower swing style in the back!

And to show how much I am digging this soft peplum silhouette, here are three other tops I have in a similar cut.

  1. That is a great top. I love getting things that don’t show my bulges, but still make me look feminine and stylish. This is the perfect choice. Love both of your outfits. You look so cute, confident and comfortable in both of them! And of course, your smile completes the look! Thanks for the post. – Amy
