Printed Tops: My Wardrobe Staple

If there is one category of clothing in my closet that seems to get more attention from me than any other, it has to be printed tops.  Florals, plaids, stripes, geometrics, you name it, I got it and I am wearing it.  The feature in this post is an Old Navy floral print top in blue, aqua, orange, white, and purple.  These colors give me so many options for pairing it with a layer such as a cardigan or jacket and with a bottom such as denim, pants, or skirt.  I feel like I have been dressing a little more on the casual side lately and my blog posts sure have reflected that.

Although this is an older print from Old Navy, I think from early spring, I will be sporting it all throughout the summer.  And I have to admit, I had a challenging time with this outfit because I fussed over the cardigan which felt like forever because the sash belt is actually attached in the back and looked funny tied back behind.  Now looking at the pictures and after wearing it, I like having the cardigan partially open to show off the print.  I also love how the lavender picks up on the purple in the top as well as gives a subtle mix of prints because the cardigan has a tone on tone geometric pattern.

In the past I have had a difficult time with higher neckline items, but I am finding that on some tops I enjoy it.  It gives me the perfect silhouette to place a long necklace without having to think about it accidentally falling down behind the neckline.  This ladder necklace I have had for a while fills the space beautifully and carries a lot of the same colors in the top.  Skinny jeans and gladiator sandals with a tiny wedge complete this casual, yet fun and whimsical look.

  2. Janeane, I love a print top and this one you have one is very pretty. I love the way you styled it with the sweater open, yet tied. I always think I have to have the front closed if it has a tie, but this is a great way to still have the layers, but showcase the blouse. You style all your prints in such lovely ways. Thanks again for always inspiring me with new ideas. – Amy
