Shopping second hand has been a rather good source for me lately. In fact, almost too good! When I spotted a peach crinkle maxi skirt on Poshmark with an ombre or painted effect on it, my interest was peeked. It was so reminiscent of what I felt would be available at Anthropologie. After I received it, I was in fact browsing the Anthro website only to see the Daybreak Maxi Skirt paired with a simple white tank and flat sandals that I decided it was time to do another Anthro Copy Cat post which is my version of taking inspiration from their styling and substituting it with plus size finds.
I first debuted this skirt and top in my haul video a few weeks ago on my YouTube channel. And while the skirt is not an exact match to the inspiration, I still think the entire vibe of the Anthro look and mine are very similar. It has a beachy boho feel with an elegant twist. The flowy maxi skirt with light peach and white tones feels so fresh despite it being a piece from seasons past.
It’s always fun to have a few options with one look, so I pulled out my big floppy hat that pulls the peachy, coral tones from the skirt beautifully. I am a fair skinned girl who burns easily, even with sunscreen, so I often pop on hats when I am out in the sun for a while. The weather here in So Cal has been so unbelievably strange being overcast, then sunny, cool and breezy, then humid and hot, all within the same day, multiple times a day. Having a layer nearby like a denim jacket to pop on and off is a great thing to have with a look like this too.
For accessories, I went a little more than the inspiration outfit and added a horn link necklace, a wide braided belt, and wood statement ring. This makes the look more me and also uniquely mine. I love how these pieces all have a natural tone to them to go with the entire beachy feeling. Along with the ever changing weather comes weird lighting when I take pictures. I only take about fifteen minutes in the morning to snap some shots and I get everything from too dark to overexposed from light images that I do my best to adjust in the editing process. Unfortunately, sometimes that means that I loose details like the embroidery on the tank, and my makeup looking non-existent. Oh well, I still adore this look.
