JCPenney Spring 2016 Lookbook

JCPenney Spring 2016 Lookbook

JCPenney used to be a retailer I would frequent quite often when I worked in an office setting.  They always had great pieces for work wear that I loved.  Now that I work out of my home, I find that I do not shop there as often.  Recently though, I picked up three pieces from JCPenney for the spring season that I have worn several times.  Two tops and a jacket are the feature of todays post with two looks showing two ways to style each piece.

The first piece is from the misses section.  Although I did check to see if it came in plus sizes and found out it did not, it still works for me in the XL.  The sleeves are much snugger on me than the model below.  It is a lovely blouse in a light blue and white print.  I fell in love with the draping detail on the front that creates a peplum of sorts.

This first look is more of a dressed up outfit for work, even though the denim is distressed.  It would look great with a pair of white slacks as well.  The long line cardigan has the same blue in the bottom part of the ombre that ties in nicely with the top.

The second look with this blue blouse is more of a casual outfit with a bomber jacket and flat sandals.  This is a great weekend outfit for me and I love the flirty nature of the entire look.  White is the perfect accent again, this time being an eyelet skirt.

The second piece I picked up was this coral v neck blouse.  It is super soft and I love its vibrant color.  This is my go to color for spring and summer and it goes with so many other pieces already in my closet.

The first look with this coral blouse is with my olive cargo pants.  These two colors together is a common theme for me because I love the combination so much.  For this outfit, I tucked in the top and bloused it just a bit.

For the second look, I dressed it up a bit with a denim pencil skirt and brightly colored scarf.  To give it a different feel, I tucked in only the front of the shirt and let the back flow freely.  It gives that deconstructed look that I love.

The third piece I got at JCPenney was this faux suede jacket.  I love the shape of it and the moto styling.  The color is so rich and beautiful that it can go with practically anything.

For this first look with the jacket, I layered it over a shift dress that has a busy print.  I love the way it tones it down and compliments my body shape.  I push up my long sleeves to 3/4 length often and this jacket has zippers on them so I can open them up slightly.

For the second look with the jacket and final look of the lookbook, I took it a little more casual with a tee and flared denim.  I love how it can go from being dressy to casual like this with ease.

  1. I started shopping at JCPenney’s only a couple years ago! They always seem to have some fun items for a great price!!
I really think all the pieces you’ve picked here would work for any age group—I especially love the first top as the silhouette is so interesting!!

    1. You are so right, they do have some great prices. I find some fabulous pieces for my hubby there too. This blue top with the draping was so different and I think it can be styled so many ways.

  2. I find that front knotted top really quite divine, Janeane. It creates such an interesting feature, which really completely turns it from a regular top to something almost Japanese in its origami-esque folds. I must say that you’ve created really cool, edgy looks that appear far more pricey than what one would normally associate with JCPenny.

And speaking of coolness, my weekly Project Sister Act Friday link-up is live and on the blog now, Janeane, and I would love for you to come and share this post xoxo

    1. Thank you Sheela. And you are so right, it does remind me of origami. No wonder I love it so much!

I will check out your link up, thanks for letting me know about it.

  3. You sure do rock a scarf – I love everyone one of these looks – and will be reconsidering JC Penny as a place to shop!

    1. I have made a commitment to wearing more scarves because I have collected so many pretty ones, so thank you. I think it has paid off big time. And I am so glad you like the outfits, sometimes JCPenney really surprises me and is a great place to shop with some very reasonable prices.

  4. I actually do shop at JCpenny but not as much, I really love their I heart Ronson line and their Belle + Sky lines, I always stop by to see whats new with both lines! But yeah I think everything you styled is great, I love your style Janeane. I think my favorite is the 5th look, I love the jacket with the dress and I think it’s something I would wear!

    1. Yes, the I heart Ronson line is super cute! For some reason I selected all a.n.a. for this lookbook without me realizing. I wish the weather would be a little cooler so I could wear that jacket more, but I can get away with it for about half of the day until the heat comes.
