Twenty one years ago I said I do to the love of my life.  He is my rock and it is amazing how much we have changed and grown together over the years.  Our love grows stronger with time.  Celebrating our anniversary is always a special occasion to us and this year, I am planning a private vow renewal ceremony just for the two of us to enjoy and then a little weekend getaway (a second honeymoon of sorts).

To commemorate this time in our life, I wanted to have some special pieces to wear so a shopping trip at Catherines was in order.  I was able to find a beautiful white dress that could go from ceremony to vacation and then another casual outfit for strolling around a beach city as we hold hands and do all those cliche things lovers do.  I get a little giddy whenever I am around him and he still makes my heart beat fast, so this time is really special.  These outfits truly capture my artistic flair and love of the dramatic.  I can also say that each one of these looks was inspired by some designers and bloggers that I follow.

For the first look, the AnyWear BurnOut Dress takes center stage.  This white beauty is a stunner with its handkerchief hemline and burn out overlay in a geometric pattern.  I am new to the swing style, so when I took this one back to the dressing room, I was unsure and actually not very hopeful it would work.  As soon as I slipped it on I felt like a princess.  It captured my vintage boho style perfectly.  It flares out right at the bust, which in my mind, would not be flattering, but I could not believe my eyes at how I looked in it.  I am wearing a 1X in this dress and could have probably sized down.

As I looked back at my reflection in the fitting room, I could envision the entire look I wanted to have.  I wore flowers in my hair on my wedding day, so I envisioned a large brightly colored floral crown inspired by Ashley Nell Tipton.  I felt so connected to Ashely when she first appeared on Project Runway and have been following her ever since.  I wanted to show a few pictures without the crown and a few with because this dress really can be worn outside of a special occasion, as I plan on doing.  I am one for dramatics and over the top things, and the crown is one of those items.

I feel very special with this floral piece on and I think it makes the look truly mine.  I honestly feel like a queen.  And isn’t that what every bride wants?  Having this unique look for renewing my vows with my husband is a testament to our love and I am so happy he loves me for who I am.

And as I mentioned earlier, this white dress can be worn in other ways for the everyday.  To dress it down, I slipped on a long sleeveless trench over top for a cool layer.  I am channeling my inner Crystal of Sometimes Glam in this look.  More bohemian accessories were added like this tribal pendant, layers of bangles, colorful bag, and short wedge gladiator sandals.  For another day time look, I can see this dress belted or even with a denim jacket.

Wearing flared denim has been one trend I have been wanting to try for quite some time, and was curious to see what it would look like on my frame.  I was so surprised how much I loved these flares when I put them on.  I chose to go with a size 20 to allow a fitted but not tight look in the tummy and upper thigh areas.  I love the front pocket detail on these so to show them off without tucking in my embroidered tee, I used a technique I learned recently from Cece of Plus Size Princess by gathering the tee at the hem, tying it with a hair tie, then tucking it into the belt loop.  It gives a lovely feminine drape to a boxy tee.

And speaking of the tee, I loved the simple detail at the neckline in coral.  To emphasize the color, I popped on this beaded bangle set and purple sunnies with a pretty scroll pattern.  All together, the outfit is perfect for strolls on the pier and browsing beach shops.

Evenings at the coast can get chilly, so a little switch of accessories changes my day look to a casual date look.  By slipping on a jacket, the tee takes on a slightly dressier edge.  I was inspired by Liz of With Wonder and Whimsy after reading her post on spring jackets and how they are such a wonderful completer piece.

  3. So when I was reading your post and how you talk about your husband I kept thinking #relationship goals and how I hope to one day find that myself! But yeah you look absolutely beautiful in the ceremony outfit with the beautiful flower crown. Each one of your outfits are amazing but my favorite is your day 1 because how you restyled the dress with the sleeveless trench! Oh and those jeans look amazing on you, I’m still on the hunt myself for a pair of flared jeans!

    1. Aww, yes I hope you find that someday too my sweet Nina. And thank you, I wore this dress again the other day and had women coming up to me at the mall telling me how much they loved it. I never realized how much attention a white dress would garner. This flower crown is special to me and it sits on my dresser as decoration because I do not want to put it away!
