The Western Nostalgia Collection from Yours Clothing

Pieces from this post were gifted to me from Yours Clothing for review.  I was able to select my own items and all the opinions and words are my own.

At the beginning of every season, my friends and I always like to feature the newest fashions from Yours Clothing in a collaborative post.  The latest arrivals for Spring 2016 that took center stage on the Yours website are the pieces from the Western Nostalgia collection.  Now when I first heard the name, visions of the TV show Bonanza crossed my mind…in a good way.  Thoughts of ruffles, fringe, embroidery, rustic earth tones, denim, braids, and boots all flashed before me as I pictured Little Joe riding up to me on his palomino.  Now, if you are too young to know what I am talking about, you can Google it, but trust me, it was a fabulous show.

Once I finally previewed the collection, I was not disappointed.  It was full of everything I was envisioning and more.  It features everything from dressy to casual with maxi dresses, wide leg denim, vests, tops and ponchos.  What did I end up zeroing in on?  A dress of course.  Dresses have been on my radar lately for some reason.  If you are a regular reader, you know that I am not a big wearer of the color black and that I am trying to incorporate this dark tone into my wardrobe with very special and unique pieces.  For me, the Black & Multi Nostalgia Border Print Hanky Hem Chiffon Dress fit that category perfectly.

This knee length dress has the most beautiful paisley print with touches of white and turquoise.  I am wearing it in a size 18 US.  With it being a chiffon fabric, it comes with a black under dress that acts as a lining.  And that underdress comes with ADJUSTABLE STRAPS!  I love that.  I chose to let the straps out to their longest length to allow the “slip” hemline to rest a few inches above my knee.  Then, the chiffon layer goes over and lands just at the knee at the highest point.  The dress itself has cap sleeves that fit nicely over my upper arms.  A handkerchief hemline makes for a very flirty look and I admit to swishing it about a few times during the day.  Let’s just say I felt in character next to this beautiful wall fountain with colorful tiles.

Since I have talked about mixing black and brown together in the past, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to do it again.  A faux suede fringed bag from the Yours collection made me do a happy dance.  It also comes with an adjustable strap that can also be removed and be worn as a clutch.

I love the option of layers, and I love how this dress looks with a denim jacket that I pulled from my own closet.  It adds even more of that romance to the Western mood going on here.  And to continue the brown from the handbag, I chose to highlight the elastic waistband of the dress with a tan braided belt.  Since the waistband on the dress is high on the torso, which hits me at my smallest part, it was natural to place the belt there.  Because I got the belt to accommodate my natural waist, which is much larger, it was too big in this area.  To make this work, I decided to tie the belt for a casual and creative look.  I really like the way this looks and it gives added interest.

Completing a look with a necklace is something I typically do and this outfit is no different.  I have dubbed this statement piece the “Goldrush Necklace”.  And that is exactly what it reminds me of which makes it a wonderful match to my Western Nostalgia outfit.

I found these fringe booties recently and fell in love with them.  Although I usually do not wear more than one fringe piece at a time, they just seemed to be the shoes for this look, so I broke my own “rule”.  Hey, they are meant to be broken!  For the finishing touch, I braided my hair in a “crown” and I think this look is reminiscent of the Spanish flair trend that is trending at the moment.

  1. Love this outfit! I’m a little sad though because I just bought booties like that and you got a better deal (although in the whole scheme of things, what is $10,right?) I never think to go to Charming Charlies for shoes!! jodie

    1. Oh no, I hate when that happens. I am sure your booties are super cute too though. They should go with that fringe skirt you just made, I love that DIY! I have gotten several shoes from CC, so yes, keep them on your radar for some cute finds.

    1. This is one of those dresses that I FELT beautiful, so thank you. I am one of those people who get in a hair rut, so I have been experimenting with trying new styles and had fun with this braid. This wall fountain is so pretty, but is in a very public area. I have never taken pictures in such an open forum, so it was quite interesting as I gathered a few looky-loos trying to figure out what I was doing. It was fun though!

  2. I knew you’d be all over this collection! It’s perfectly suited to your Vintage Bohemian style. This dress didn’t excite me much online, but as usual, you’ve taken something I’d pass right over and make me drool over it. I guess I didn’t realize it had pops of dark turquoise? It’s really unexpected and really lovely.

I also like that you styled a black printed dress with brown suede accessories to give it a rustic, casual vibe. And you and Hailey ordered the same denim jacket, right? It looks fab on both of you. Now I want it! lol

    1. Yes, you were so right! And the turquoise is gorgeous in it too. The hanky hem just flowed all day and I really did have “dance” step when I walked. This denim jacket is one I already had, but I love the one that Hailey got. We did get the same handbag though, I am totally obsessed with it and am wearing it in several more posts to come.
