Anthro Copy Cat: Black & White Pants with Military Jacket

Last June I took a picture of a display at my local Anthropologie that included a casual outfit I wanted to wear so badly.  It boasted a slouchy olive military jacket, white tee with a knot, watercolor scarf in whites, oranges, and purples, and black and white pants.  What I truly loved about this look were the pants.  Although you cannot tell from my iPhone picture, they had a black background with white irregular dots and dashes with a bit of a global feel to them.  Ever since then I have been on the lookout for a plus size version of these beauties.  When I saw a pair of Lane Bryant pants being sold on Poshmark, I pounced.  Since I already had all of the other pieces to recreate this outfit, I was ready to complete it with my new find.

I was truly amazed at how similar these pants were to the ones at Anthropologie when I got them.  And although this was featured in the store as a summer outfit, I think the jacket is more appropriate for spring weather.  Whenever I have an outfit that really fits my personal style, I feel amazing and that is exactly how I felt in this.  All of the other items in this outfit came from my closet, so that was even better.

I have been dealing with a few personal issues in my life lately and am anticipating some big changes coming up that have me deep in thought.  It has also made me re-evaluate what kind of content I want here on my blog and how much time I spend on it.  I am also still in recovery from my hip surgery I had in January that faced me with learning how to walk all over again.  As you can see, I am walking, in heels no less (I have to replace them with flats a few hours in though), and it is a constant challenge to keep from limping as I continue therapy.  Regardless, I am so beyond pleased with how I am doing physically and with each day I am doing better.  It is all a journey and honestly, dressing in what I love has been a huge part of my recovery.

To give this outfit my own touch, I added some accessories in the form of some wood & resin bangles and a patterned fabric clutch.  If you have not noticed, or if you are new to my blog, I always try to show you a handbag with my outfit, no matter what.  For me, it is something I always look for when looking at other blogs because it completes the look for me and is a practical part of my outfit that houses my wallet, keys, lipstick, and iPhone.

I have to admit, it is a little more challenging writing a post when really none of the items I am wearing are readily available, but I wanted to feature this outfit because I want to be authentic here.  I really do wear what I feature here and a lot of the time, I am remixing what I already have.  While I will always feature new items, I hope you do not mind that I show you other things like this every once in a while.

One thing I do have to say about this outfit is that I love the color palette, even though it is subdued.  Black, olive green, white, brown, with touches of coral pink is a lovely mix of tones.  I can see me reusing these colors in a multitude of outfits.

  1. Not sure what all you are going through, but you look amazing in this. I love that you admitted to remixing and wearing what you own. So many of the bloggers out there seem to have an unlimited supply of stuff, but that is not real. Thank you for being real.

    1. Oh, thank you so much Chrysta! I have a much easier time writing when I am myself, it just flows better. And as much as I adore getting new items (which I am always doing, eek!), I still do wear my older pieces too. I also have a limited amount of closet space that I am realistic about. If I have too much, I start to get overwhelmed and I loose track of what I have. It is also fun to see how many different ways I can wear a certain piece. It makes me feel like it was worth the money. Thank you for commenting and for your sweet words!

  2. This is a great outfit. It’s casual, but classy. I am all about looking nice, but feeling comfy at the same time. I also love that you post pictures of outfits that you have discovered in your closet. It is all about inspiration! Once in a while it is nice to be able to click on a link and buy the exact same piece, but I, like you, am more about being creative with things that I already have. And that is what we are trying to inspire other women to do. Once again, you have inspired. Thank you. – Amy –

    1. Ah, casual, classy, & comfy. It is such a sweet spot and I thank you for describing it that way! I am always attempting to get those three “C’s”. I started my “Remix Feature” a little while ago on a whim and have really found that I love it. I have been surprised sometimes how many times I have worn something and in such different ways, so it has been a lesson for me as well. Thank you for your comment Amy!

    1. Thank you so much Suzanne. You are so sweet for saying that. I have been having fun in Canva creating collages. If you have not tried it, you should! It’s free and super easy.

  3. I look forward to your styles because you are down to earth and I enjoy the remix feature on your blog. Life has a way of throwing a wrench into our plans but we are strong, we are women and you will conquer!

    1. You are so sweet Neti, thank you. It makes me feel like I am doing exactly what I have set out to do. And you are so right, we are strong, and getting stronger every day.

      All my blessings!
