I Love My Dog!

It has only been about five years that I first discovered Anthropologie.  The first time I walked into the store they had a display featuring a sweater with a French bulldog on the front.  Ever since then I was a bit obsessed with the look, not to mention I am a complete dog lover.  I have a yellow labrador named Luke that is my pride and joy.  He brings a smile to my face every single day.

When I saw a similar dog sweater on Poshmark recently, all those emotions of seeing that Anthro display came rushing back and I knew I had to get it!  I wanted to style it in a fun and quirky way because how else can you wear a big ‘ol puppy face on your chest without doing so.

For my fun and whimsical outfit, I paired the light weight sweater with my dark brown faux leather skater skirt.  Since the weather has turned a little cooler, I decided to add some tights and tall boots to the mix.  With the skirt, tights, and boots all being the same color, I love the way it elongates my bottom half.  I was absolutely thrilled when I found these dark brown tights at Avenue only to realize I got two other pairs free, so I picked up a solid gray and gray leopard patterned ones.

I really wanted to have a red handbag with this look to go with the bow on the dog, but I do not have one in my collection at the moment.  With it being Christmas season, I decided to go with traditional colors and add green.

A little sparkle was introduced with a gem and tortoiseshell necklace that I have had for over eight years and a cord bracelet with rhinestones.  The play on whimsy and dressy really fits my mood lately.

My new cream beanie with a fuzzy Pom Pom (aka, the elf hat) gives even more holiday cheer.  I have to also give props to my husband who has been taking my pictures for the past several weeks.  It is totally not his jam, but I must admit he brings the best out of me and he is getting really good.

Even though this sweater is a couple seasons old, I love it and found a Scottie version that I linked below in the details.

I wanted to throw in a picture of my Luke too.  He is one of the cutest pups I have ever seen.  (Ok, I may be a little partial!)

  1. I think the small pops of red and green give this outfit a touch of holiday cheer without feeling like a full-on Christmas-themed outfit. I love that subtlety. I also feel that your choice to ground the look in chocolate brown feels so much warmer and cozier than black. Plus, I’m obsessed with this skirt. What an awesome Forever21+ find! You’ll be able to wear it with everything!

  2. Such a super cute look! The sweater is adorable and the skirt and boots look so great on you too. It is flirty and fun, but in a more sophisticated way. Love it!
