Cheers! Let’s Celebrate the Holidays: 40s Glam Outdoor Party

Cheers! Lets Celebrate the Holidays! When it came time to create a virtual holiday party with my blogger babes, Liz, Nina, and Hailey, I knew this was the time I really wanted to ramp up the glamour.

Each one of us have organized a party with our own theme and we are inviting you to party hop to all four, virtually!  We will each be dawning fashions gifted from Yours Clothing to show the range of styles they have available for the holidays.

Liz of With Wonder & Whimsy is hosting a Black & White Dessert Party, Nina of CurvyMod is creating a Cocktail Potluck, Hailey of Discourse of a Divine Diva has a Cozy Game Night planned, and I am doing a 1940s Inspired Glam Outdoor Holiday Party.  Oh, so swanky!Floral Midi Dress with Faux Fur Stole from Yours Clothing | Designing From My Closet | Plus & Inbetweenie Fashion BlogI adore vintage home decor, music, fashion, and recipes.  So as I browsed the Yours Clothing website to pick an appropriately themed look, I was not disappointed.  In fact, I had a hard time narrowing down my options.  I finally decided upon the Navy & Pink Floral Print Midi Dress with Ruched Waist Panel to coincide with my vintage glamour theme.Floral Midi Dress with Faux Fur Stole from Yours Clothing | Designing From My Closet | Plus & Inbetweenie Fashion BlogLet me express to you how much I love this dress!  It is body hugging without being too tight and it is extremely comfortable.  The large scale bloom beauty is unlined everywhere except the bodice, which means the stretch is amazing.  I didn’t even need to wear shape wear!  Woohoo!!!  The silhouette with its fitted to-the-elbow sleeves, angled ruching at the waist, and just below the knee fitted skirt bring that vintage 1940s feel while the textured floral fabric give it a modern twist.Floral Midi Dress with Faux Fur Stole from Yours Clothing | Designing From My Closet | Plus & Inbetweenie Fashion BlogTo add even more glamour, I added this luxe faux fur stole in gorgeous grey tones.  It has a hook & eye but I opted to style it open.  Since I live in a warmer climate here in Southern California, I thought I would take advantage of using this outdoor fireplace as the venue for this party of mine.Floral Midi Dress with Faux Fur Stole from Yours Clothing | Designing From My Closet | Plus & Inbetweenie Fashion BlogAlthough it does not get freezing here, a light jacket would be needed to stay nice and cozy as the evening progresses.  The Wine Waterfall Longline Crepe Jacket was the perfect addition to complete this holiday look.  The unlined covering brings sophistication to this dressy outfit while providing a little warmth.  It has a tie belt that is even beautiful when closed.Floral Midi Dress with Faux Fur Stole from Yours Clothing | Designing From My Closet | Plus & Inbetweenie Fashion BlogI chose a vintage gold beaded party bag, rhinestone stretch bracelet, pink cocktail ring, and burgundy flats from my own closet to finish it off.  I fixed my hair in a side sweep with loose curls to go along with the glam getup.Floral Midi Dress with Faux Fur Stole from Yours Clothing | Designing From My Closet | Plus & Inbetweenie Fashion BlogOutfit Details

To decorate the outdoor area, loose draped twinkling lights define the party space while old fashioned paper streamers and horns are scattered around for guests to have fun with.  A little bubbly can be found in an ice bucket adorned with pine sprigs and cranberries.Outdoor Glam Christmas Party DecorThe food table is lined with gold encrusted candle holders while chiffon cake, barbecue meatballs with colorful toothpicks, pigs in a blanket arranged in the shape of a wreath, and metallic pom poms on a stick grace each drink.  As we dine on dessert and appetizers, Andrew Sisters Christmas music will be filling the air with cheer.  Gathered around the flames of the fireplace, talk of what we are thankful of for the past year and what our plans are for 2016 will be bountiful.  A bit of carefree dancing may ensue as well.  Enjoying the company of friends and family in an oh, so festive way, this vintage soiree is sure to be remembered. Outdoor Glam Christmas Party FoodThank you for joining me at my Glam Outdoor Holiday Party and I wish you a Merry Christmas!  And I want to extend a big thanks to Yours Clothing for giving me the dress, jacket, and stole.  Now I know you are ready to head off to see my friends Liz, Nina, & Hailey, so say hello to them for me.

  1. I would certainly love to attend this party! I wondered how you’d make an outdoor party feel festive and Christmas-y. I’m sure you Californians tackle it without a second though. Us Michiganders only sled and snow-mobile outside in the winter, not host parties! lol I love how you created a cozy atmosphere with the fireplace and twinkle lights. And I’m totally captivated by what wine chiller with holly and rosemary frozen into the ice.

And as always, you built such a lovely and unexpected outfit. Those three pieces came together perfectly!

  2. What a fun party Janeane! I love how you envisioned the party with the twinkle lights and the fireplace, it would be such a lovely holiday party. The idea of the ice bucket made of ice is such a fun idea and it’s so easy to do! This party could easily see this vision of a party be translated into a new years eve party.

I adore the outfit you came up with, I would have never thought to come up with this outfit but it looks so great together. I’m really loving the fur stole and i’m thinking of getting one for myself I love how you can just wear it to add a little something to your outfit. I love the simple accessories that you chose to go with the outfit too.
