Style Collab: Winter Trends

Today I am collaborating with my three friends to show you four winter trends.  Liz of With Wonder and Whimsy will be showing you baroque, Hailey of Discourse of a Divine Diva will be wearing sequins, Nina of Curvy Mod will be covering Shades of Gray, and I am creating a look with Plaid and Fur.Adam Lippes for Target Sweater Vest | Winter Trends with Designing From My Closet | Plus & Inbetweenie Fashion BlogPlaid and fur are always prevalent during the fall and winter months.  There are currently a multitude of choices when it comes to plaid from flannel red and black check, more commonly named lumberjack, to woven sweaters in pastels.  As far as fur goes, you can find so many vests in a variety of colors and textures that can fit your style.  Even fur scarves and stoles are a great addition to amp up a winter outfit.

For this post I wanted to step a little bit away from the traditional button up shirt and go a little more sophisticated.  This long line sweater vest with its large scale plaid pattern can easily be dressed up or down.  Adam Lippes for Target Sweater Vest | Winter Trends with Designing From My Closet | Plus & Inbetweenie Fashion BlogI am wearing it over a gray sweater dress I found on Poshmark as a base for several upcoming winter looks and I thought the vest looked spectacular over it belted.  I love the fact that it has black faux fur pockets.  The combination of the textures drew me to get this piece.  Adam Lippes for Target Sweater Vest | Winter Trends with Designing From My Closet | Plus & Inbetweenie Fashion BlogI very rarely wear dark or black outfits and wanted to add a touch of color.  This multi color link necklace in autumn hues provides a great interest up by my face. Adam Lippes for Target Sweater Vest | Winter Trends with Designing From My Closet | Plus & Inbetweenie Fashion BlogSince cooler fall temps have just made its way to Southern California, I am still dawning bear legs, but when winter comes, I plan on wearing this plaid & fur combo with tights & boots. Adam Lippes for Target Sweater Vest | Winter Trends with Designing From My Closet | Plus & Inbetweenie Fashion Blog

  1. I think this look is super luxe. I’m not usually one for vests, but I love this one! I also like that you took popular trends like plaid and fur but showcased them in an entirely new way. Layered looks like this make me realize I really need a basic t-shirt dress. Usually I wear statement dresses with basic cardigans over the top. But I like how this is reversed, and it would get me out of my standard “uniform.”

My favorite aspect of this outfit is the necklace because WOW does it pulls things together. It’s such a refreshing burst of color against a palette of grays, and it’s such an eclectic piece against such a graphic backdrop that the juxtaposition is just really interesting.

    1. If someone told me a year ago I would be wearing vests, I would have laughed at them! I am totally shocked how much I have incorporated them into my wardrobe and this one is my favorite in the bunch. And to get a basic dress like this was a departure from my norm as well. I know we both get drawn to the more detailed garments. This vest called for it and I love the result.

  2. As great as you look in color, these darker blue-based grays look great on you! It is definitely a richer look with layering elements that go so seamlessly together. I adore the pop of color in the necklace. It is unexpected but so beautiful against the grays and black. And your makeup looks lovely!

    1. I was wondering how these darker colors would look against my pale skin. And this necklace has me swooning right now. It is such an honor for you to mention my makeup. You have been such an inspiration that I have been experimenting every morning with something new!

  3. That vest Janeane is so gorgeous, I think it pairs so well with the gray sweater dress. I think the pop of color from the necklace is such a great touch, I wear a lot of monochrome and I would never think of that. But yeah I’m really liking the outfit against the pink wall, it really stands out! Oh and I’ve always loved the fur stole you have and I love the story behind it how you inherited it, it’s so gorgeous and I really like how you paired it with the plaid top!
