Per-suede-ed by Avenue

I’m back!  My posts have been a little less frequent due to my hip injury and instead of being stressed about staying on my self induced schedule, I am doing what I am able to do.  And, I am very excited to share this outfit with you because of the story behind it.  A few weeks ago, I posted a video about a shopping trip I took at Avenue.  Although I did not make any purchases that day, I was still contemplating making an online order.  Afterwards, Avenue contacted me and asked if I would be interested in showing one of their wonderful fall pieces.  Of course I said yes!Avenue Faux Suede Fringe Jacket | Designing From My Closet | Plus and Inbetweenie Fashion Blog

The first piece they sent was the Faux Suede Fringe Jacket in this warm chocolaty brown (it comes in black too!)  I have been obsessed with suede for years now because I am such a tactile type of person.  Touching fabrics is officially a hobby.  Since this jacket is faux, it is super thin and lightweight.  It is unlined which makes the fabric glide over the body and flow beautifully.  I am wearing a size 18/20 and it fits well in both the arms and shoulders.Avenue Faux Suede Fringe Jacket | Designing From My Closet | Plus and Inbetweenie Fashion BlogIt has long sleeves that I chose to push up to three quarter length.  And since this fringed beauty could go Pocahontas really fast, I chose to set it against a simple background in the form of dark skinny jeans and navy blue tee.  The neutral pieces make this jacket the star of the show, as it should be.  I love how the draped front cascades down over the chest.  To give a bit of color to the overall look, a turquoise pendant and vibrant patterned clutch is added.

Fringe wraps around the entire hem of this fall jacket.  Due to the light nature of the textile, the long pieces dance like feathers when I walked.  I think this look is casual but very sophisticated for being such a bohemian piece.  A pair of brown wedges or heeled booties would have been the first choice for me to complete this outfit, but I have to acknowledge my current physical limitations.  These simple cognac flats have been a tremendous help during my recovery and have been essentially all I am wearing at the moment.

This outfit garnered many compliments and I was so comfortable all day long.  It moved and stretched with me throughout the days activities, not to mention it being fun to wear.

What do you do to highlight a special piece in an outfit?

  1. I really love this look. The jacket lends such a fun flair to the solid pieces. I would definitely wear this – flats and all! I hope you are feeling a little better. Take care of yourself.
