Wearing White in the Fall with Lane Bryant

Although fall and winter are typically associated with darker tones, I still like to keep a little bit of lightness to my outfits at this time.  Wearing white is any time of year is some women’s worst nightmare because of the fear of looking larger.  For me, I love the fresh look it gives, even after summer has gone.  The key to wearing white in the fall is the fabric and cut of a piece.  A heavier denim like this that has a full length is a great option.  Thinner textiles like linen and cropped pants in white are pieces that stay best in the summer months.Lane Bryant Green Tee & White Denim paired with Lace Up Flats from Old Navy | Designing From My ClosetI recently picked up these distressed jeans from the sale rack at Lane Bryant.  The open cuts on the knees is a new look for me and I feel when they are paired with a dressier ensemble, it elevates the distressing.  Fit wise, these are more of a boyfriend cut with a slightly loose fit, which is right up my ally.  The longer length make these jeans perfect for the fall season.  I love how they look with these nude lace up flats.

For a relaxed day look I popped on a deep green tee and green accessories.  FYI-This top comes in seven more colors!  The darker hue of the top is what brings this outfit into fall.  This is a simple look that is super easy, yet pulled together.Lane Bryant Green Tee & White Denim paired with Lace Up Flats from Old Navy | Designing From My Closet

To dress this look up just a bit for going out to dinner, I layered on a long sweater vest in a large scale plaid pattern from the Adam Lippes for Target collection.  It has a belt, but for this look I tied it in the back.  I am glad I listened to some reviews from other ladies I follow regarding this vest when it comes to sizing.  It does run large in comparison to other Target pieces, so I got this in a straight size XL and it fits perfect.  I checked online and it looks like the plus sizes are sold out, but they still have up to XXL available at this moment.Lane Bryant Green Tee & White Denim paired with the Long Belted Vest from Adam Lippes for Target | Designing From My Closet

I switched out the accessories for a large green medallion necklace, zebra print clutch, and heeled cut out booties, all of which are second hand finds!Lane Bryant Green Tee & White Denim paired with the Long Belted Vest from Adam Lippes for Target | Designing From My Closet

I love how these simple changes can transition a look from casual to dressy.  And by keeping the pieces again in darker colors, it is a great fall look with a bright touch.Lane Bryant Green Tee & White Denim paired with the Long Belted Vest from Adam Lippes for Target | Designing From My Closet

  1. This is so funny because I just photographed an outfit with white jeans yesterday in anticipation of a “How to Wear White in the Fall” post. I reiterate several of your tips, but where you paired the white with an earthy hunter green, I paired mine with dark neutrals like black and tan leather. I saw these pocket tees on my last trip to LB, and they looked so soft and comfy. Definitely an effortless piece you can style a variety of ways. And I love how the longline vest dresses up the look for a dinner out.
