When I first began Designing From My Closet I soon realized how important it was to stay true to myself. As much as I love looking at the latest trends, I never want to loose sight of my authentic style. Sometimes this means wearing pieces that are not from the current season. That is precisely why I keep certain items in my wardrobe for many years and why I purchase second hand.
This dark blue laser cut midi skirt is a recent addition to my closet via the SBR Pop Up I attended several weeks ago in LA. I got this Mynt 1792 beauty from the gorgeous Nicolette Mason (yes, I got to meet her!) It is circa 2014, but for me, it translates perfectly to the here and now and more importantly, fits my personal aesthetic.
I recently posted on Instagram three ways how I was planning on styling this new-to-me skirt. For its first time out to play I chose to pair it with a boxy quilted top in white that I recently purchased at Old Navy. I love the snake embossed texture on the front and the stark contrast between the light top and dark bottom.
To add a bit of the blue up towards my face, I selected my leopard scarf with tassels. This is a second hand piece as well that I got about a year ago at a local consignment shop. For jewelry I added a tortoiseshell and turquoise bracelet I got last week from the Charming Charlie clearance rack.
I simply adore how the laser cut skirt gives a hint of skin and gives such an interesting detail to this look. It is so incredibly soft and well made. I can see why this brand retails at a higher price point because it is made with such quality.
Do you purchase second hand to keep your wardrobe fresh? Do you have certain pieces that you still use after a long time?
