Several weeks ago I stumbled across this AVA + VIV Multicolor Skirt and declared it my dream come true when I debuted it with an ivory blouse I had. (See that post HERE). After seeing the Fall 2015 Lookbook on GabiFresh, I went a little crazy when Gabi dawned the skirt with a coordinating tee. I very rarely will take an outfit from something like this and wear it exactly the way it was shown, but I could not help myself with this. In fact, I had seen the Graphic Tee online and it really did not do much for me, but paired this way, I am truly in color heaven.
If you read my previous post of this skirt, I sized up to be able to wear it lower on my natural waist. This time however, with a couple of strategically placed safety pins on the back of the waist band, I created small pleats to make the skirt fit high waisted for this time around.
To accessorize this painterly pattern in bright colors, I kept things to a minimum. These yellow chunky heeled sandals blended perfectly with the print and I am happy that they are a more muted yellow vs a bright yellow. For jewelry, I placed on a simple gold chain and white wood bead pendant necklace that I made a few years ago. I actually tried to put on a bracelet and ring, but it was too much. My handbag is a refined navy wristlet that goes well with the blue of the top and skirt.
Being an artist, this look shows my love of color in the most apropos way. This looks so dressed up when in actuality it was unbelievably comfortable. So, a big thanks to Gabi for being my inspiration and for being instrumental in bringing such amazing pieces to Target.
In true Designing From My Closet fashion, I am staying true to what I love in interior design as well. My living room has a brightly colored floral piece of art hanging over my sofa that has the same playful spirit my outfit has.
