This last Wednesday was my 20th wedding anniversary and I cannot believe how time has flown by. It seems like yesterday we were living in a one bedroom apartment with hand-me-down furniture and a card board box as a nightstand. Celebrating this momentous occasion was a wonderful moment for me and my husband. I wanted to look extra special so several weeks ago I went to Anthropologie and found the Castalia dress. It was the perfect blend of dressy and casual, which defines our Southern California lifestyle.
My husband planned a whole day of surprises for me with the first being a limousine ride. I had never been in one in my life so it took my breath away when I stepped outside and saw the long, elegant car waiting for us. We took a beautiful drive down the coast and arrived at a seaside restaurant where we dined on fresh guacamole, pineapple margaritas, and halibut all while overlooking a cove in Laguna Beach. I seriously felt like a queen and could not stop smiling.
The chunky acrylic chain necklace was a total find at Charming Charlie because I had just seen a similar one at Anthropologie. Initially I was unsure of how these colors would play off of each other. It has a bit of a lavender tint to it, but when I saw it on the hanger together, it was like it was meant to be. And the clutch could not have been more perfect for this dress with its woven blue pattern. I love the different scales of patterns between the woven and the tie dye.
I felt so comfortable the whole day even as we walked the boardwalk after a late lunch in this outfit. The long duster gave a nod to a wedding train and I love how the mocha color plays off the blue of the dress.
The best part of the day was when I stepped out of the bedroom after getting ready and my husband gave me a wide eyed look. He gushed over how beautiful I was and really that is all that matters to me. I felt like his young bride all over again. I was surprised at the comments about the details of my outfit that he noticed. Overall, he mentioned how this just looked like “my style” and that made me so happy.
