Sucker for Seersucker

Seersucker Top with White Denim

A few months ago I went on a vacation for my birthday and one of the stops was Old Town Temecula that I highlighted in My Journey into 40 post.  While walking wood planked sidewalks, I stopped in a small clothing boutique called Shop Girl because I spotted a super cute top from the door.  I could tell right away that this was not a destination for a plus size girl like myself to find clothes, but I really wanted to try this seersucker top.Seersucker Top with White Denim

I am so glad I did because I am in love with it.  Because it has only spaghetti straps and has an extremely loose trapeze fit, I was able to make it work for me.  I have actually never tried anything on in this silhouette ever before, so I was pleasantly surprised.  For me, it is almost like a dress in top form!  I love how it billows over my slim fitting white denim.  The addition of the cropped denim jacket makes it flounce even more, especially in the back.  Seersucker Top with White Denim

There were several qualities that attracted me to it in the first place.  The number one reason was the fabric.  The light blue and white stripes that are iconic in seersucker give that nostalgic feeling to summer.  It spoke to my inner vintage diva.  Second was the crochet detail at the neckline, and third was the construction with the stripes going different directions and raw edge seams.Seersucker Top with White Denim

I added a little bit of bling in form of a few bracelets and a flower ring.  And voila, a vintage inspired summer time look that is super comfy.Seersucker Top with White Denim

Here are a few plus size seersucker items that I love.

I love to read your comments!

  1. I love your blog and this top is gorgeous! But I think when you wrote “wallah” you meant “voila.”

  2. You know what I didn’t even know what seersucker was until I read your post, I used to have some similar items in my wardrobe and had no idea it was called seersucker. hehe But yeah this is a great summer outfit and I think it’s great you went in there to try the top it shows that you should always try something on because you never know you’ll find something great!

  3. This is so cute! I would totally wear this. I think it’s the trapeze top and flounce in the back that I love most. It’s how I do casual: feminine, flouncy, and fun! As always, you wear blue beautifully. Being in between straight and plus sizes as well, I am thankful I can wear some styles at straight size boutiques. Like you said, you just have to be choosy about silhouettes. This was a great find!

    1. Yes! I just love doing this kind of casual. I am so glad you do too. This top is super special and am thrilled to have the memory that goes along with it.

  4. I’m catching up on your last few posts and absolutely love this look! It looks great on you and I would wear it in a heartbeat. You’ve inspired me even though I’ve always been a “no white bottoms” girl. I love perusing your outfits and even though I am much more conservative, find that your creativity challenges me. Thank you and keep the posts coming!

    1. Thank you Monica! I hope you find just the right pair of white pants. I have tried on some really bad ones, so keep looking until the magical pair appears. 😊 And thank you so much for commenting. I am so happy that I am spurring on creativity!
