Let’s face it, I have a pattern of selecting patterns in clothing. While solids provide a multitude of options, for me, getting items with a print gives me an easy way out for styling. With having a 9 month old puppy in the house, I really need easy, quick ways to plan outfits because he is wearing me out! I want to get as much use from a piece I purchase, so I always look at its possibilities while still in the store. Take this vest for instance. I have shown it once before here on the blog in my Geo Everything post with a yellow skirt.
When I first purchased this vest, my first idea was to pair it with a long navy maxi skirt. In essence, the color was pre-selected for me within the pattern so it was a natural choice. I almost feel like it’s cheating by having my own built in color palette. With this vests navy threads and embroidery, the color blended perfectly with the navy skirt.
As far as the necklace goes, that was a “hmmm, lets throw that on and see what it looks like” moment. And whoo whoo, it looked great. The biggest reason I really wanted to wear it was because this beauty fell apart on me last summer and had been sitting in a bag waiting to get repaired until just last week. I was itching to wear it!
Fringe on the sandals give me that boho edge I so love and a yellow textured clutch ties into the yellow on the vest. Now I still have the brown and wine colors in the vest to highlight in another look now that I have featured it with yellow and navy, not to mention, this lovely would look fab with just a pair of skinny jeans. So there you have it, a simple way of looking at the possibilities with a patterned article of clothing.
