Spin the Pin: Neutrals and Texture

Anthropologie Brindley Hoodie & Petticoat Tank

Today I am participating in the iCurvy May Challenge of Spin the Pin.  Last week Jo posted an image off of Pinterest to create an inspired look of my own.  See her post on the challenge and see the Pin I am being inspired by: New Outfit Challenge – SPIN the PIN.

Basically what I took from the inspiration outfit was the neutral color palette, layers, and texture.  Rather than a true blush, I selected a slightly deeper tone in more of a puce (I really hate that color name, even though it is a cross between a purple and a brown.)

Instead of a dress and dark tights, I opted for a long tunic and dark wash denim.  Layers and rows of ruffles on the top plus the layer of the lace hoodie give me a Spring appropriate look because the photo is more of a fall/winter outfit as Jo is in Australia and I am in the US.

Can I just say really quick how cool it has been to connect with ladies around the world through blogging?  I just love it!  Ok, now on with the outfit.

I was truly tempted to incorporate my grandmothers fur stole into this ensemble as the inspiration pin had, but it just did not seem practical, so I opted to mimic the texture aspect and go with my lace hoodie.  This also goes for the “hat”.  I thought that the hood gave a nod to the head covering.

Anthropologie Brindley Hoodie & Petticoat TankOne thing I really loved about the inspiration outfit was the snake textured handbag that she is carrying.  Anytime that I get to use my snake print clutch, it is a good day.  I have found I love this size of clutch for daytime and it is easy to carry around.

Anthropologie Brindley Hoodie & Petticoat TankI do not typically double up on the same texture, but I did add a little more of the snake print through my bangle and I think the scale of the print is just different enough to keep it from being matchy matchy.

  1. Hello from Down Under 😉 thanks so much for participating in SPIN the PIN. I love your SPIN – the layered textures are beautiful, and I can absolutely see nods to the inspiration pin, but in an outfit that’s ‘you’. That lace hood is so beautiful, and I adore those shoes. Thanks again for taking part and linking in!

    1. Thank you so much Katie! When Jo posted that inspiration picture, I was not sure if I could do it, but I am so glad I did. I have never paired these items from my closet together before even though I have had most of them for quite a while.

      Thanks again,
