I am totally admitting that I had a difficult time styling these patterned cropped pants that I got a little bit ago. They are kind of a mix of a floral and an ikat pattern together in white, black, and brown. I was almost ready to admit defeat and that is a lot for me to say because I have never done that before, especially with pattern! My solution: search Pinterest. I found several inspiration looks that helped me figure out what I should do with these pants I loved so much.
After digging in my heels about trying to pair them with major color, I realized I needed to go the neutral route and let the pants take center stage. A simple white waist cinched tank with a medium wash denim jacket was really all that was needed.
To add just a touch of color, I selected an orange and purple wood bead necklace and a vintage turquoise cuff. The whole look together still gives off that vintage bohemian vibe that I love so much.
I am going to use this opportunity to encourage all you ladies who read my blog to find your personal style and go for it. Every time that I dress in a way that reflects my personality it makes me focus on the what the day holds and to be more confident in the way I do it. It really does not matter what size you are, and the more effort you put into presenting yourself, the more people take notice. If you like the pin-up glam look, go for it! If you like being sleek and sexy, let your light shine! If you enjoy being preppy and classic, put your heart into it! I admire women who take the time to show their style, even if it is nothing I would sport. I spent my late twenties and early thirties in ill fitting, ugly clothes because I had no style direction. Those “fashion prime” years are now gone, but I am choosing to not let my age define how I need to dress. If anything, I have a better idea of who I am now.Outfit Details:
Necklace: Anthropologie (similar)
Brown Handbag: Coach (similar)
Now that I have these pants, I have really been on the hunt for some similar looking pillows to refresh my bedroom. I wouldn’t mind mixing all three of these on the bed.
Have you ever had a piece that you loved but did not know how to style? What did you end up doing with it? Do you need some help with that troublesome item? Let me know in the comments.
