A little while ago I completed a design project for a client that I just fell in love with. Her desire to have a mid century modern sitting room with a combination of restored vintage Heywood Wakefield case goods with colorful modern furnishings was infectious.
Inspired by its orange sofa and light wood tables, I got out my Anthropologie Colorblocked Shirtdress that I have not worn in a while.
I have had a really difficult time styling this dress. As much as I adore the color, every time I have put it on, I just feel like I am a school marm. I think it is the button up shirt look. The dress has a detatchable collar and I decided to try it in this look without it. The combination of me being short waisted and the style of this dress is naturally high waisted makes my upper half look even smaller and much larger chested than I really am.
The positives about this dress is that it has pockets, has a beautiful vibrant orange color, and has major swoosh factor. I could not help but twirl! The color combination just fits perfectly with this Mid Century Modern room. I am still envious of that rug. The fun orange tufts on the cardigan give a playful vibe that the room exudes as well.
With me on a major closet clean out, I have been determining what really works for me. So the bottom line on this dress is as much as I love it, it is just not working for me. With that being said, I have listed it in my Poshmark closet to sell. Hopefully someone else will love it as much as me, but make it work.
Oh, I really want to visit this orange love seat again.
