One of my gifts that my husband gave me for Christmas was a Target gift card. I honestly thought that I was not going to find anything clothes wise since the items in store have really been a disappointment to me. I don’t think he has noticed that I had not been shopping there for clothing for quite some time. I decided to take my search online. As an inexperienced online shopper, I was leery about what the items I ordered would actually look like. Since they were offering free shipping, I decided to take the plunge and order a couple dresses and a skirt.
I was super excited when the package arrived and I felt like it was Christmas day all over again as I ripped open the bag. One of the items I ordered was the Merona Women’s Creme Shift Dress with Tie in the Drizzle Gray Print. When I first put it on the dress, I was really unsure. The tie really did nothing for my figure. When I modeled it for the hubby, he said he liked it and that I should keep it. Then I started styling it and found several ways to enhance the fun boho pattern.
It is so funny whenever I go to take pictures at this time of the morning, I get little sunlight “halos”. I love the effect without special filters!
For a casual look, I paired the dress with my denim jacket, turquoise necklace, bone bangle, & nude flats. I was playing around with a belt, but it competed too much with the long necklace so I opted to stick with the tie for this look. I like this casual boho outfit that came together.
Dress: Merona Crepe Shift Dress w/Tie Drizzle Gray Print from Target | Denim Jacket: Old Navy | Shoes: Charming Charlie (similar) | Turquoise Pendant Necklace: Thrifted (similar) | Bone & Gold Bangle: Thrifted from Goodwill of Orange County (similar)
It has been unusually warm (again, after a short “cold” stint aka upper 50’s/lower 60’s) here in Southern California so I was able to wear this and feel totally comfortable. Sorry blog buddies who are feeling the arctic weather lately! And pardon the very winter white legs, the self tanner regimen has gone to the way side recently. I think this dress will be used a lot during the spring and summer months ahead with hopefully tanner legs.
I posted on Instagram another way I am thinking of styling the dress with a ruffled front short sleeved cardigan that has a hook that connects under the bust. My trusty stone slice necklace gives the look a little more dressy vintage look.
Styling Notes: I am wearing the XXL & I typically wear a 16/18. I am 5’5″ and the hem reaches just at the knee.
