I do not know why my mind goes to this, but every time I see this cardigan sweater it reminds me of a lion mane.  The fringe that lines the front just looks like what you would see on a stuffed animal and that makes me happy!  This look is playing with proportion.  The long cardigan goes right to the bottom of my hip which I left partially open even though I belted it loosely with the sweater tie.  Then the full mini skirt goes well above my knee.  Typically I do not go for skirts this short, especially for work, but I feel perfectly comfortable with the tights that are in the same color family.  The berry colored hosiery carries the skirt color down to the tops of the congac riding boots.  Along with the tights, I prefer to wear flats with mini skirts because it keeps me from looking too risque for work.  These proportions give my short-waisted body a little more balance.  The long cardigan elongates the top half & the short skirt compliments my longer legs.

Styling Notes: When I wear cardigans, I usually wear tanks.  I have a tendency to get hot and this prevents me from getting over heated indoors.  This also gets rid of the dreaded sleeve bunching that happens when you put the cardi on.

So far I think this may be one of my favorite winter outfits.  It might have something to do with the stone slab necklace that I am always getting compliments on.  My hubby gave this to me a couple years ago and I just can’t wear it enough.  I know I have already shown it a few times on the blog and this will not be the last.  The new year has brought on a new energy to me that I am thankful for.  God has been so good and his blessings are so abundant.  His peace surrounds me as I take on new adventures in my journey.

Do you wear mini skirts?  What are the tricks you use to make them work appropriate?

  2. I love all of the textures and elements at play here. It’s a whimsical outfit that feels so cozy for wintertime! You look like a Valentine! I prefer flats with short skirts, too. I think it keeps the look feeling sweet instead of sexy. Plus, higher heels means a shorter skirt, so then I’m worried about flashing the world my business. I like how you used the taupe color in your sweater, necklace, and bag. Because each has a different texture and material, it feels cohesive without being repetitive or boring. I really love this look on you, Janeane!

    1. Thank you so much Liz. This is one my favorite looks so far for winter. That clutch has been getting some major usage recently. I got it ages ago at JCPenney and then it sat there unused until now!
