As you can tell from my dedicated accessory closet, I have a love for jewelry and scarves + more. It is amazing how just changing out accessories on an outfit can dramatically change the look. By taking some basic pieces as a base, I created four looks just by switching out some details.
Olive Jacket + Striped Top + Jeans + Wedge Booties
Cheetah Belt + Gold Necklace with Gem
The simple addition of the belt gives a nice detail to the waist while the long necklace draws the eye down. This is the look I chose to go with today.
Pink Leopard Scarf + Brown Belt
I wanted to try a new trend that I have been seeing with a long scarf by belting it and I really like it. This pink leopard scarf was given to me by my husband while on a trip in Las Vegas so it means a lot to me. I like how it elongates my body.
Layered Statement Necklaces
Combining two of my favorite necklaces was an unexpected look. I have never done this before and I really like it. It gives a very artistic look which I am always looking to achieve.
Tan Infinity Scarf + Cocktail Ring
This cocktail ring was my grandmothers and every time I wear it I feel close to her. She was a creative soul that I connected with as a young girl. I now have some of her wonderful pieces she made that I pull inspiration from.
This really shows the power of accessories and you can remix your wardrobe to create so many different looks. Some women are fearful of accessories, especially bold ones and I hope this gives you some ideas of how to use them. They are a way to personalize your look, even with the most basic of clothes.
Today is the last day of the #30DaysNoShopping challenge and it has been both a wonderful and torturous experience all in one. This clothing cleanse has made me realize what my true style is and that I no longer want to compromise what I want to wear based solely on price. I am already planning a shopping trip with a mission in mind: holiday pieces with a vintage boho feel. A recent networking meeting allowed me to meet the store manager of The Hanger in Laguna Niguel, Ca. This particular shop is a resale boutique of Working Wardrobes where ninety cents of every dollar benefits their programs and services. They carry designer brands and even have a plus size section! I am super excited to see what they have (and to share it with you).
Today’s Postivity Note
Dare to be different.
